This publication, available in digital and print formats, is for British Columbians who want to know what to do when a loved one dies. It covers preparing for the death of a loved one, what to do immediately after the death, making the funeral arrangements, and where to find support.

What’s new in this update

Highlights of the new update include:

  • A new section on preparing for the death of a loved one, which includes how to make a “No CPR” order, as well as other steps to help prepare everyone for what lies ahead.
  • Reorganized content to highlight the practical steps to take after a loved one dies.
  • Additional links to forms and other practical tools in the wikibook version.

Choose the format that works best for your needs

A Death in Your Family is available in multiple formats, online and in print.

The wikibook version can be accessed online and is “responsive” to the device you’re using, so that it is optimized for that device (such as mobile). The EPUB version is designed for reading on a tablet or ereader.
